Register For or Renew Your Library Card

Residents of the Town of Essex may register for an Essex Free Library Homecard. This Homecard may be used at other neighboring Homecard libraries in addition to Essex Free. To register for a card or to update you card, please visit the library's circulation desk. You may also update remotely.

In addition to the registration form, first time registrants must provide the library with an ID or other proof of residence: a lease, bill, postmarked mail, etc. After filling out the registration form, please email a photo or scan of your proof of residence to essexfreelibraryvt@gmail.com. Proof of residence documents will be disposed of once your address is confirmed.

After we receive your form and proof of residence, a physical card will be made for you, which you may pick up via curbside at your convenience if you choose to do so. To use our library and our online resources, a physical card is not necessary, but if you visit other libraries they may require it in order to check materials out to you. Upon registering, we will forward you your library card barcode number and other details.
